Mayor Jaime Arroyo has proclaimed May 10–16, 2026 as National Police Week in the City of Lancaster.
The Lancaster City Bureau of Police a full-service police department that has provided law enforcement to the City of Lancaster since 1865. It is the largest and only urban law enforcement agency in Lancaster County.
The Bureau believes community-oriented policing is the best way to serve the residents, visitors, neighborhoods, and businesses of Lancaster City, empowering its officers and civilian staff to build trust and form long-lasting relationships with those they serve; and the Bureau is committed to working collaboratively with all community members to solve important issues that help the Lancaster City community thrive.
The Bureau’s Office of Community Engagement works to engage with all residents of Lancaster City by providing ongoing opportunities to deliver feedback, discuss public safety challenges, and develop positive relationships with the Bureau; and the Police Social Workers are an integral part of the Bureau’s team, connecting our most vulnerable residents with needed support services and identifying new solutions to keep community members safe.
The Bureau values service, integrity, honor, courage, commitment, and duty; and the Lancaster City community is grateful for the services provided by the Bureau and its commitment to professional and personal excellence.
