Summer is here, and we’re sharing more valuable pet safety tips for hot weather! Here are some tips to keep your pets cool and hydrated during the scorching days:
Ensure your pets have access to fresh and cool water at all times. Consider placing multiple water bowls around the house and refill them frequently.
Prepare tasty and pet-friendly frozen treats by freezing water or low-sodium chicken broth with a few of their favorite treats or fruits. It’s a refreshing snack that’ll keep them cool and hydrated.
When the sun is blazing, keep your pets indoors where it’s cool. Draw the curtains, use fans, or air conditioning to maintain a comfortable environment for them.
If your pets enjoy spending time outdoors, make sure they have access to shaded areas where they can rest and cool off. Set up a canopy, use umbrellas, or find a tree that provides ample shade.
Plan your pet’s exercise routine during cooler parts of the day, such as early morning or late evening. This way, they can still enjoy their playtime without overheating.
Never, ever leave your pets inside a parked car, even for a few minutes. Cars heat up rapidly, and it can be fatal for pets, even with cracked windows. Keep them safe at home!
Regularly brush your pets to remove excess fur and prevent matting. But remember, their fur protects them from the sun, so never shave your pets unless instructed by your vet. Sunscreen for pets is also available if needed!
Watch out for hot pavement. If it’s too hot for bare feet then it’s too hot for your pet’s paws.
