Lancaster City Bureau of Police Achieves State Accreditation
Lancaster, PA., April 25, 2025 – The Lancaster City Bureau of Police is proud to announce that it has officially been recognized as an accredited law enforcement agency by the Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (PLEAC), effective April 24, 2025. This distinguished achievement marks a major milestone in the Bureau’s ongoing commitment to professional excellence, transparency, and accountability.
The accreditation process is a comprehensive, voluntary program that evaluates law enforcement agencies against established best practices and standards in policing. By achieving this recognition, the Lancaster City Bureau of Police has proven its adherence to the highest standards of law enforcement performance, ethics, and community service.
“This significant achievement is a direct result of the Bureau’s hard work, commitment, and dedication to excellence,” said Richard Mendez, Chief of Police. “Earning this distinction represents a standard of professionalism, accountability, and service that everyone at the Bureau strives to meet every day. Becoming an accredited agency confirms what I already knew: that we are an agency of integrity, driven by the values of public trust and continuous improvement.”
To commemorate this accomplishment, a Council Accreditation Ceremony will be held on Monday, May 13, 2025, during the Lancaster City Council meeting. Members of the public and media are invited to attend and celebrate this significant moment with the Bureau and City leadership.
