After over two decades of dedicated service to our community, it is with great honor that we announce the retirement of Sergeant Donald Morant.
Sgt. Morant began his journey with the Lancaster City Bureau of Police as a Community Service Aid in 1998. His passion and dedication propelled him forward, and in 2000, he officially became a Lancaster City police officer.
Over the years, Sgt. Morant has tackled various assignments and roles within the force. From his tenure in the Selective Enforcement Unit to his pivotal role in the Lancaster County Drug Task Force, Sgt. Morant consistently demonstrated a determination to combat crime and ensure the safety of our community.
From 2008 to 2017, Sgt. Morant became a Detective and served in the Criminal Investigative Division. Notably, Sgt. Morant played integral roles in the Property Crimes Unit, Special Investigative Unit, and Major Crimes Unit, leaving a permanent mark on each unit.
In 2015, Sgt. Morant was assigned to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the United States Marshal Service. There, he took on the role of a Special Deputy Task Force Officer, focusing on the Fugitive Task Force Unit. Additionally, he was sworn in as an FBI Task Force Officer, dedicating his efforts to the Violent Crime Task Force Unit. His collaboration with federal agencies, particularly in initiatives such as Project Safe Neighborhood, underscored their commitment to fostering partnerships and combating violent crime at both local and federal levels.
Sgt. Morant was promoted to the rank of Police Sergeant / Platoon Supervisor in 2017. His knack for leadership really shone through when he took on the role of the first Community Outreach Coordinator Sergeant, where he spearheaded initiatives to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community we serve.
As Sgt. Donald Morant transitions into retirement in 2024, we express our deepest gratitude for his years of dedicated service and commitment to the safety and well-being of Lancaster City.
Please join us in congratulating Sgt. Morant on his well-deserved retirement and wishing him all the best in this new chapter of his life. Your contributions will be deeply missed, but your impact will resonate within the Bureau for years to come.
